The deadline to RSVP to the Sapulpa community’s largest and most exciting social event of the year is fast approaching, according to Charity Ball chairperson Teri Naifeh.

Invitations to this year’s ball, themed “Hollywood Style,” have already been distributed, and the deadline to respond is Sept. 15. This is the 40th year for the fundraiser.

Naifeh pointed out that this year, anyone responding to the fundraising even by Aug. 31 will be entered into a drawing to win an “Elegant Evening” prize package, which includes complimentary limousine rental and tuxedo rental, spa packege, dress discount and couple’s dance lessons.

The winner of the package will be drawn for this Friday.

“It’s a fabulous gift package of donated goods and services from area merchants that anyone would be very lucky to win,” Naifeh said.

This year’s ball will be held Saturday, Sept. 23 at Oaks Country Club in Tulsa. Cocktails will be served beginning at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 and dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight.

“It will be an elegant but fun evening,” Naifeh said of the black tie-optional event.

Oklahoma City-area band Hart and Soul will take the stage to wow the crowd with their renditions of 1940s dance music as well as contemporary classics.

She said that various packages will be raffled at the ball to raise money for three Sapulpa agencies: Show, Inc., Parents and Friends Handicapped Workshop and Respite Resources, Inc. All three agencies provide aid to those in Sapulpa that suffer developmental disabilities.

In 2005, Charity Ball raised $35,000 that was distributed among the three organizations. Naifeh said she hopes this year’s raised funds will surpass those of last year.

She said this year’s ball is particularly special because it is the 40th anniversary of the first ball, which was first held in 1966 by Jerry Naifeh, Mary Ann Jacklin and Joy Naifeh, three Sapulpans who saw a financial need for organizations in their community.

“We want to make this year’s Charity Ball special to honor the founders for being so involved in this event and the community for the last 40 years. They have contributed so much to Sapulpa,” Naifeh said.

Charity Ball is open to anyone who wishes to attend. For those who would like to attend but don’t receive an invitation, call Naifeh at 224-7767 for more information and tickets.
